The MVCL has been in existence for past 50 years and more. Its establishment is traced to the time when the Non Aligned Movevment (NAM) gave Zambia the mandate to host the 3rd Meeting of NAM. The NAM is a movement consisting of countries that are non-aligned- and whose membership exceeded. The- purpose of NAM was to ensure national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of non-aligned countries in their struggle against imperialism, colonialism, neo-colonialism, racism, and all forms of foreign aggression, occupation, domination, interference or hegemony as well as aginst great power and bloc politics of East and the West. Following the nomination to host the third Heads of state and Government Summit Conference for the NAM, Zambia was faced with an enormouse challenge of putting into place conference and accomodation facilities for the Heads of States, their representatives and other delegates attending the conference. With the support of cooperating partners, the Zambian Government quickly mobilized resources and built the Mulungushi Village Complex and the Mulungushi International Conference Centre to provide accomodation and conference facilities respectively. The Zambia Government built 65 luxurious presidential villas to provide for accomodation to the Heads of Satetes and Government. Currently the number of luxurious presidential villas have increased to more than 100.
